Iowa Startup Accelerator sets fall relaunch with Aug. 15 deadline

Time is ticking for Iowa founders looking to get into the state's most prominent tech accelerator.

Applications are officially open through Aug. 15, 2025, for the return of the Iowa Startup Accelerator, operated by the Cedar Rapids-based nonprofit New Bohemian Innovation Collaborative, or NewBoCo. The program has been on hiatus since it was last held in 2022.

Unlike broad-stroke pitch competitions, this accelerator zeroes in on execution. Qualified applicants must be Iowa-based businesses under five years old, have completed customer discovery via programs like Venture School, and be ready to secure Letters of Intent or Memorandums of Understanding for future sales.

Alex Taylor, NewBoCo's director of entrepreneurship, explained that the relaunch aims to help founders exponentially scale their revenues and solidify sales strategies once product-market fit is locked down.

The timeline for the seven-week sprint moves quickly:

• Sept. 26, 2025: In-person orientation in Cedar Rapids.
• Thursdays, Sept. 26 – Oct. 30, 2025: Weekly virtual sessions from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
• Nov. 7, 2025: Final in-person Demo Day.

ISA Ventures general partner Eric Engelmann said the revived program is meant to help local startups clear the hurdle between basic incubation and the metrics required to qualify for advanced programs like TechStars or venture capital funding.
